Safe routes to schools

Ask

Cycle permeability between the two halves of Christchurch Avenue

Explanation

This is near a primary school that promotes cycling very well – Malorees. It is a route the children and parents wish to use, but it is blocked by the central barrier on Brondesbury Park. This should be removed and mode filters should be placed on Christchurch Avenue instead. (A mode filter is a measure that allows cycle access but prevents rat-running through motor traffic. It may consists of bollards,  a “no entry” sign for motor vehicles, or a “one way” with cycle exception.)

Brondesbury Park

The issue with the Christchurch Avenue / Brondesbury Park junction: this central kerb put in to prevent rat-running traffic also obstructs cycle journeys to school on a quiet route. A junction reesign is required that allows cycling but does not re-enable rat-running.
