It’s almost time for our Annual General Meeting again!
The date is set! It will be on Tuesday 12 September at 7pm. This will be an online meeting this year. Do register to attend via the link below.
This meeting will be a chance to look back at what has been achieved in terms of campaigning for better cycling provision and active travel in Brent.
The AGM is also a time to elect members for our Management Committee. The Committee consists of London Cycling Campaign members and collectively we help each other, using different sets of skills and backgrounds to inform our decisions and steer our campaign to support better cycling provision in the borough.
Our asks are simple:
- Safe local routes on minor streets
- Protected routes on major roads and junctions
- Easy to choose cycling
- Children friendly spaces and routes
- Plentiful and inclusive cycle parking
We are an open and diverse group with a good mix of people. We are all volunteers and we understand time limitations, so the more people get involved, the lighter the load for each of us!
We all have skills that are useful to campaign for better, safer and cleaner streets. You don’t need to know every technical infrastructure detail to be a valuable asset to the committee.
We are looking to fulfill the following roles, These roles are for a minimum of 12 months and you will receive plenty of support to get you started and along the way.
The Group Co-ordinator: The main point of contact for the group from councillors, and members of the public and acts as liaison with LCC HQ. Responsibilities include ensuring adherence to LCC policy and legal requirements, representing the group at external meetings, and building strong connections with local people cycling, community groups as well as businesses.
The Secretary: To help with the administration of the group. This can mean organising meetings, taking minutes, looking after membership lists and keeping the website up to date.
Ride Co-organiser to help our current ride coordinator: The role would be to come up with ideas for rides to offer to our members, help with planning the route, carry out a risk assessment and prepare the information needed to publicise the rides.
We also need people to fulfill other roles. Any skillset you can offer is welcome, as long as you share our passion for campaigning for better, safer and more inclusive cycling provision in Brent.
Not all members of the Committee need to perform a specific role or for a specific length of time.
If you are interested in any of these roles or if you want to be more involved in any way – not necessarily in a specific role – do not hesitate to get in touch (brent@lcc.org.uk) should you want to find out more. We welcome anyone with a passion for making our streets and borough a happier, safer and nicer place to live. Do let us know if you want to stand for a committee position before the vote, please.
